Eid Mubarak

Eid Mubarak to all my brothers & sisters! Today was the first time I've had lunch in over 30 days. The first lunch after Ramadan has always been a special one for me. I just appreciate it so much more. Today I took my brother to Qualia coffee off of Georgia ave. in Washington, DC. We had Veggie feta wraps, couscous & olives, jasmine loose tea, Ethiopian iced coffee & cherry crumble.If you're in DC or plan on visiting, please stop by Qualia. The coffee is amazing!

Critical Exposure Presents - 5000 Images : A Celebration & Retrospective

I had the privilege of attending the opening of Critical Exposures, 5000 Images gallery at the Edison Place gallery in NW DC.

About Critical Exposure
Critical Exposure teaches youth to use the power of photography and their own voices to become effective advocates for school reform and social change.

The organization was founded in 2004 by a former educator and an education policy analyst in response to the drastic disparities that exist among public schools.

By empowering young people to develop skills as documentary photographers and advocates, we expose citizens and policymakers to the realities of our current two-tiered education system as seen through the eyes of the students who confront those realities each day.

To see the predicament of DC schools & everyday life through the eyes of the students is truly an amazing thing. If you didn't get a chance to see it in person, hunt it down!

Timeless: Washington DC Screening

Last night I had the honor and privilege to attend a screening of Timeless. It was one of the most inspirational things I have ever seen. Shout out to Munch for bring this amazing screening to Washington, DC. For more information read below.

Timeless: The Composer/Arranger Series is the name of a concert series that was created in homage to the composer/arrangers who have influenced hip-hop in the most literal and profound ways. Timeless was conceived by production house Mochilla in Los Angeles during February and March 2009 and included the performances of over 150 musicians in front of ecstatic sold out crowds. These three historic events were recorded and filmed in exacting detail with Mochilla's unmistakable style.

Boat Behind By Kings Of Convenience

Once upon a time there once was a boy who only listened to Hip Hop. Anything else was just wack. 'Til one day, that boy started to make beats. He sampled songs from all kinds of genres and began to have an appreciation for music beyond his own narrow taste. That boy grew up to appreciate modern music that gave him the same feeling as the music he sampled, the classical, folk, soul and funk he used to create his own music. As a man he now listens to any and everything and feels sorry for the boys left in the world that have yet to develop a pallet large enough to appreciate anything but Hip Hop.

Decode: Digital Design Sensations

Today I went to an exhibition at the Victoria & Albert museum called Decode: Digital Design Sensations. The exhibition featured the latest developments in digital and interactive design, from small screen based graphics to large-scale installations. There was this dope screen designed by Mehmet Akten called Body Paint. As you walked past it, bright colors appeared on the screen capturing your body's movements. Kind of like splashing paint following your every move. check it out!

How I spent The First Day of The Year

Happy new year to everyone! To be honest new years is just another day to me. I'd be lying however if I said I don't do a bit of reflection and prediction. I usually spend new years eve chilling at home and mapping out what I want from there year to come. This year i decided to try something different and I attended the Pause/Living Proof party at the Big Chill House in London. The music was live and the vibes where great! The next day I hit up London's Natural history museum to check out the Veolia Environment Wildlife Photographer Of The Year Exhibition. The exhibit was amazing and the winner was Jose Luis Rodriguez of Spain. Click on his award winning photo to read more on him, his technique and the picture its self.

A Collaborative Animation By Blu & David Ellis

Amelia from PutMeOnIt put me on to this amazing video. Blu

& David Ellis take over an abandoned space, paint over it and film

the process. The end result is a series of murals that come to life

when the camera filming the painter is sped up making it all seem

animated. Check it out!
